MARY FARRIS
Senior Director of ESG and Sustainability
Mary heads the company’s overall ESG program, including strategy, targets, regulatory interpretation, and disclosures. In her previous role at GE, she led operational sustainability, managing not only the company’s environmental sustainability targets and footprints, but their overall ESG external footprint and disclosure strategy. At this same time, Mary led EHS Operations at GE Corporate. She has a background in marketing, spent years in a compliance function, was a decorated educator, and supported GE’s Healthymagination organization. Her strengths are employee engagement, building strategic external relationships, and leading transformative initiatives. She graduated with honors from Union College in Schenectady, NY with a bachelor’s degree in English. She also holds a Master of Arts in teaching with a specialization in English and was at one time a really hard English teacher. Mary is based in Sudbury, Massachusetts. She is the mother of two, Zachariah (25) and Riley (24) and volunteers her time to other families and individuals needing educational advocacy. In her spare time, she is an avid cook, book hoarder, grammarian, and a sometimes-blogger.

NEWSWEEK / STATISTA — Published its America’s Most Responsible Companies 2025 list, ranking 600 U.S. companies (out of the 2,000 largest publicly traded companies) on ESG performance. The analysis is based on 30 key performance indicators along with consumer reputation. Merck scored #1, with 97.83 points (out of 100).
