Head of ESG
Chris is responsible for accelerating the company’s ESG programs while communicating these to external stakeholders. During his tenure, Chris has driven Applied’s climate strategy by joining RE100, setting science-based targets (SBTs) and launching the Net Zero 2040 Playbook™. He represents the company regularly in public forums and meetings with investors. Prior to Applied, Chris led ESG and corporate sustainability programs at eBay, Hewlett Packard, and S.C. Johnson, helping these organizations improve their sustainability impacts while achieving the highest recognition from leading external organizations such as CDP. Chris holds an MBA from the University of Edinburgh and a BA in history from the University of Pennsylvania.

NADIA WETZLER
Sr. Director, Legal Services
Nadia is corporate counsel at Applied Materials, focusing on EHS, ESG, corporate sustainability and reporting, and real estate. In that role, Nadia is responsible for supporting the company’s EHS compliance and ESG programs and advising the company on its sustainability disclosure requirements. Nadia has been with Applied Materials since 2004. Previously, Nadia worked as an associate at Bingham McCutchen LLP, where she provided EHS counseling to numerous clients. Nadia holds a JD from UC Berkeley School of Law and an undergraduate degree in economics and international studies from Yale University.

ELENA KOCHEROVSKY
Director, Climate Program
Elena focuses on implementing strategies and driving stakeholder engagement to achieve Applied's Net Zero 2040 Playbook. Her responsibilities span across greenhouse gas inventory, operational decarbonization, renewable energy procurement, value chain engagement, navigating voluntary carbon markets, and other climate-related topics. She brings 14 years of experience in sustainability, working with a wide range of companies across sectors to identify and manage the environmental impacts of their operations and supply chains. Her past experience includes sustainability consulting at Anthesis, developing the Higg Index at the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, and program management at the Environmental Defense Fund. Elena recently moved to Reno, NV where she enjoys exploring the Sierras with her partner and dog.

ROBIN CONNELL
Senior ESG Project Manager
Robin joined Applied Materials' ESG team in 2022. As the Senior ESG Project Manager, her role focuses on developing programs to support Applied’s human rights initiatives, ESG reporting, and ESG communications. With over fifteen years as a sustainability practitioner, the majority of her career centered on implementing sustainability strategy, programs, and communications for organizations such as Dwell Magazine, Del Monte Foods, and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Robin holds an MBA in sustainable management from the Presidio Graduate School, and a BA in environmental studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

- Reduced GHG intensity by 44% in FY 2024 (2019 baseline).
- Reduced Scope 3 Category 11 (use of sold products) by 27% per million dollars of gross profit in FY24 (2019 baseline).
- Increased renewable electricity to 73% in FY24, up from 70% in FY23, and sustained a 100% renewable electricity rate in the U.S.
- In FY24, improved average energy consumption per wafer pass by 13% across all semiconductor products (2019 baseline).
- 97 suppliers, comprising 38% of spend, confirmed they have global GHG reduction goals, and 109 suppliers (54% of spend) provided site-level data.
- Increased non-hazardous landfill diversion rate to 75% in FY24, up from 73% in FY23.
- In FY24, total compensation for women globally was 99% of total compensation for men (and 100% in the U.S.); and total compensation for racial or ethnic minorities in the U.S. was 101% of total compensation for non-minorities.
- In FY24, community investments increased 24% over FY23 to $14.5 million.

JUST CAPITAL — Announced its JUST 100 list for the 2025 rankings of America’s most just companies, in partnership with CNBC. Drawing from data from 940 companies across 36 industries, the Top 100 were scored for 17 issues affecting workers, customers, shareholders, communities, and the environment (such as paying a fair wage, treating customers fairly, and prioritizing sustainability). This year 19 CEF members ranked in the JUST 100 list, and six in the Top 20, including: Hewlett Packard Enterprise (#1 for the second year in a row); HP, Inc. (#2); Bank of America (#3); Trane Technologies (#6); Applied Materials (#13); and Alphabet (#19). (Feb 2025)

NEWSWEEK / STATISTA — Published its America’s Most Responsible Companies 2025 list, ranking 600 U.S. companies (out of the 2,000 largest publicly traded companies) on ESG performance. The analysis is based on 30 key performance indicators along with consumer reputation. Merck scored #1, with 97.83 points (out of 100). CEF members in the top 50 include: General Mills (#2), Applied Materials (#4), HP (#6), Mastercard (#7), Hewlett Packard Enterprise (#9), Ecolab (#12), Analog Devices (#13), Qualcomm (#29), Cisco Systems (#31), Visa (#33), CBRE (#35), Apple (#42), and General Motors (#50). 2023
Joined the CEF member network in December 2023!
Catalyze — CEF members Schneider Electric and Applied Materials, along with Intel, launched this new collaboration to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy across the global semiconductor value chain. The companies will encourage the industry’s thousands of suppliers to join the Catalyze program and decarbonize. Specifically, Catalyze aims to combine energy purchasing power to accelerate deployment; facilitate utility-scale power purchase agreements; increase awareness; and support and educate suppliers in decarbonization efforts.
