Chief Sustainability Officer
Christopher C. (Chris) Fox has led global corporate social responsibility at HanesBrands since 2007. He is responsible for developing and overseeing the company’s comprehensive, global corporate responsibility strategy, including operational policies and internal and external programs. His areas of focus include HanesBrands’ ethics, factory compliance, product safety, philanthropy, environmental sustainability, and diversity and inclusion programs. Fox joined HanesBrands in 1999 and has held a number of roles within the organization’s legal function, including representing the supply chain and Asia business development teams. As part of his HanesBrands’ roles, Fox has worked and traveled extensively in Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, Australia and Africa.

PHILIP HENSON
Director, Energy and Sustainability
Philip Henson is a member of Hanesbrands corporate facility engineering team, which has responsibility for leading engineering, energy demand, environmental sustainability, and safety activities on a global level. Mr. Henson earned his Industrial Engineering degree from Texas Tech University in 1991 and a Master of Arts degree in sustainability from Wake Forest University in 2015. Mr. Henson has a distinguished career in the textile manufacturing industry spanning over twenty-six years with Hanesbrands and predecessor companies. Mr. Henson is an ambassador for sustainability and in recent years has helped elevate the level of energy management, energy data analysis and reporting, and environmental stewardship to internal and external stakeholders. He is an active participant within the ENERGY STAR industrial partner’s network and has helped Hanes leverage this partnership to improve company energy performance and garner US EPA ENERGY STAR award recognition for the past 9 years.

PHILLIP HUNSUCKER

Environmental Sustainability Engineer Phillip Hunsucker is a member of HanesBrands’ corporate facility engineering and energy management team, which has responsibility for leading the company’s environmental sustainability program globally. Hunsucker is a “double deacon,” having earned both his Master of Arts in Environmental Sustainability (MaSUS, 2015) and his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology (2014) from Wake Forest University. Hunsucker is an organizational intrapreneur with experience developing corporate environmental sustainability strategy, managing and analyzing supply chain energy and environmental data, and commercializing opportunities in solid waste recovery. His experience also includes corporate social responsibility reporting through platforms such as CDP and the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark. In his free time, Hunsucker enjoys hiking, playing the guitar and visiting craft breweries.

- Reduced energy usage in owned facilities by 7% (2020 baseline).
- Reduced water usage in owned operations by 8% (2020 baseline).
- Diverted 92% of its facility waste from landfills, recycling more than 75 million pounds of fabric-cut parts, corrugate, plastic, and other materials.
- Achieved 62% reduction in single-use plastics for packaging (2019 baseline).
- Kickstarted the use of circular economy practices by partnering with yarn mills to manufacture reclaimed and recycled cotton.

HanesBrands earned its first “A List” recognition for leadership in corporate sustainability in the CDP 2020 Climate Change Report (December 2020)
HanesBrands announced plans to produce more than 20 million reusable medical gowns for hospitals and healthcare facilities in need across the United States. The company has already produced and delivered more than 60 million cloth face coverings and is ahead of schedule to deliver more than 320 million washable, all-cotton face coverings. (May 2020)
Winner for the 11th consecutive year of the 2020 ENERGY STAR Awards, which recognize organizations for developing energy efficient products and services that help customers save money and energy. (April 2020)
Hanesbrands will dedicate manufacturing capacity to the production of FDA-approved cotton face masks, with plans to produce 1.5 million masks per week. (March 2020)
HanesBrands has renewed its partnership with the U.S. EPA's SmartWay Transport program. The company has reduced carbon emissions from transportation by more than 50% since 2008. (Jan 2020)

Hanesbrands will feature the How2Recycle label on some of its products to help keep its recoverable packaging out of landfills. (Sep 2019)
Hanesbrands has partnered with nonprofit Free The Girls to help women rescued from human trafficking re-establish their lives. The company will collect new and gently used bras at its more than 200 retail stores, and donate them to the nonprofit. (July 2019)
